 Nonprofit Writing

I work with nonprofit organizations on expanding fundraising capacity by conducting prospect research, identifying grant opportunities, and writing and editing grant and promotional materials. In addition, I have helped write editorials and speeches for leaders of organizations. My 12 years of working on development teams of local, domestic, and international nonprofits enable me to support organizations of all scopes and sizes. I enjoy working both independently and collaboratively.

If you are experiencing a need for added capacity––due to employee leave; an unexpected opportunity that could lead to employee burnout; seasonal workload, etc.––please reach out. I’d love to learn about your organization’s mission and current needs; together, we’ll see what’s possible.

"As a poet herself, Leila’s talent lies in her special sensitivity to words and ideas—her keen sense of their intertwined music and meaning. Consistently, throughout her editorial work on my short story collection, her instincts for pulling back, pushing for development, and cutting outright had an exquisite sense of correctness. There was balance and care on the word, sentence, and story level—an editorial range and exactitude no writer can live without. Like any writer deep in the weeds on a piece, I had been finding it difficult to see the work with fresh eyes—but with Leila’s notes, automatically trustworthy because of their innate artistry, a path forward became clear again. Her feedback inspired a whole round of revisions that demonstrably improved the collection."
